Algoma University's Flagship Hackathon, Fall 2026 Edition
3 Days. 2 Campuses. 1 Competition.
Hacking starts in
ThunderHacks II is the bigger, bolder second edition of Algoma University's flagship hackathon. What began as a single-campus, single-day competition returns as a three-day event running simultaneously across two campuses.
Open to Algoma University students at both the Brampton and Sault Ste. Marie campuses, plus Sault College students at the Sault Ste. Marie campus.
A three-day daytime hackathon running 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day. Build during the day, rest at night, and come back sharp.
We are projecting 50 to 60 participants across both campuses, bringing together builders from Northern Ontario and the GTA.
Judging is combined across both campuses into one unified competition, with virtual coordination on the final day so every team competes on equal footing.
The first ThunderHacks brought 36 participants across 12 teams together for a single-day competition at our Brampton campus. It set the standard we are building on this fall.
One unified competition, judged across both campuses. Compete for the overall pool and for sponsor-backed track prizes.
Grand prize for the best project overall.
Runner-up for outstanding innovation.
Third place for exceptional work.
Awarded to the winner of each Gold-sponsored problem statement.
Awarded to the winner of each Silver-sponsored problem statement.
$3,000 in main prizes, plus additional sponsor track prizes.
Back the next generation of builders across Northern Ontario and the GTA. Every tier puts your brand in front of student talent at both campuses.
Everything in Bronze, plus
Everything in Silver, plus
Multiple sponsors welcome at each tier. Custom and in-kind sponsorship also available.
Talk to the ALCOMS TeamJoin hackers from both campuses for three days of building, learning, and competing.
